To provide strategic and operational leadership for the Quality function across manufacturing, refurbishment, procurement, subcontracting, warehousing, and distribution activities, ensuring all products, processes, and services consistently comply with customer requirements, OEM-equivalent standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality management systems.
The incumbent is accountable for establishing and driving a culture of quality excellence, continuous improvement, defect prevention, operational compliance, and customer satisfaction across the organisation.
The role is responsible for the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS), supplier quality performance, process quality assurance, product compliance, and overall organisational quality performance.
Quality Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement the organisation’s quality strategy aligned to operational and customer requirements.
- Develop the Quality Policy and Quality Objectives.
- Provide leadership and direction to all quality personnel across the organisation
- Align quality objectives with operational, customer, and commercial priorities.
Quality Management System (QMS)
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure alignment with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.
- Develop and maintain quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and controls.
- Ensure document control, revision management, and traceability requirements are maintained.
- Monitor effectiveness of quality systems and implement corrective improvements.
- Ensure traceability and record retention for manufactured and rebuilt parts.
- Lead management review processes for quality performance
Quality Assurance
- Ensure quality assurance systems are integrated throughout manufacturing and refurbishment processes.
- Define critical quality control points and inspection requirements.
- Ensure processes are controlled to prevent defects and non-conformances.
- Monitor process capability, quality trends, and operational compliance.
- Ensure quality standards are embedded into operational planning and execution.
- Ensure adherence to OEM Standards
Quality Control (Manufacturing & Rebuilds)
- Ensure effective inspection and testing processes across incoming, in-process, and final stages
- Manage inspection teams
- Ensure adherence to inspection and test plans (ITPs)
Supplier and Sub-contractor Quality Management
- Develop supplier and sub-contractor quality assurance processes and standards.
- Evaluate, approve, and monitor supplier and subcontractor quality performance.
- Conduct supplier and sub-contractor audits and quality assessments.
- Ensure incoming materials and outsourced work meet required specifications.
- Drive corrective actions for supplier-related non-conformances.
- Develop strategic supplier quality improvement initiatives.
- Quality teams also collaborate with procurement to resolve supplier non-conformances and improve supplier capability.
Non-Conformance Management
- Oversee the identification, investigation, and resolution of non-conformances.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective and Preventive Action processes.
- Monitor recurring quality issues and systemic failures.
- Ensure effective implementation and closure of corrective actions.
- Drive preventative quality improvement initiatives.
Customer Quality Assurance
- Investigate customer complaints and warranty failures
- Provide technical feedback and resolution reports
- Interface with key accounts on quality matters
Compliance & Audits
- Lead internal and external audits
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
- Maintain quality certifications
Continuous Improvements
- Lead root cause analysis using structured methodologies (e.g. 8D, Fishbone)
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Reduce scrap, rework, and warranty costs
Team leadership & Development
- Manage, coach, and develop quality personnel
- Set performance targets and conduct appraisals
- Build a quality-driven culture across operations
Health, Safety & Risk Integration
- Ensure quality systems support safe operational practices.
- Integrate quality and operational risk management.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
- Participate in operational risk reviews and investigations.
